The bone metabolism research team was founded in 2012 by Professor Li Minqi, a young scholar of Qilu. The research direction mainly focuses on the mechanism of metabolic bone disease and hard tissue reconstruction. Up to now, the bone metabolism research team has won 8 national natural science fund programs including 5 General Programs, 1 Youth Programs and 2 International (Regional) Cooperation and Exchange Programs, and 7 Provincial and Ministerial Research Programs and 2 Shandong University Talent Programs, with the total program fund amounting to 5.7 million yuan. The research team has published 67 academic papers in SCI, among which 45 papers were published as the first or correspondent authors. In terms of student development, the research team has made remarkable achievements. One team member has entered the Outstanding Talent System of Shandong University, and the rest has won more than 20 research awards, including Shandong University President Scholarship, Shandong University Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation, Ph.D. National Scholarships, Master's Degree National Scholarships and Shandong University Qilu Medical Yinfeng Scholarship.

◆Introduction of the team leader (Prof. Li Minqi)

Li Minqi was born in 1970. He is a professor of Shandong University, a doctoral supervisor, a young scholar of Qilu and a special appointment professor at the National Hokkaido University in Japan. And he is also a current member of the Academic Committee of Qilu Medical College of Shandong University, a deputy director of the Academic Committee of the School of Stomatology, a member of the Disciplinary Review Group, a member of the Teaching Steering Committee, the director of the Institute of Oral Basic Medicine and the Director of the Department of Bone Metabolism. And he is the Pioneer Investigator (PI) of the Research Direction of Hard Tissue and Related Disease Mechanisms in the Key Laboratory of Oral Tissue Regeneration in Shandong Province. He is also a committee member of the Oral Pathology Professional Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association, a member of the Oral Biomedical Professional Committee, a member of council of the Shandong Provincial Stomatological Association and a deputy director of the Oral Biomedical Professional Committee of the Shandong Provincial Stomatological Association. At the same time, he is a member of the International Editorial Board of J Oral Biosci., the official journal of the Japan Society of Oral Biomedical Sciences. As a “High-Level Talent Urgently Needed”, he has been approved to introduce to High-Level and High-Skilled Personnel Service Green Cards in Shandong Province.

Professor Li Minqi has been engaged in basic research in stomatology and bone metabolism for a long time and has published 143 related academic theses, including 104 papers in SCI, 39 monographs in Japanese and papers. After getting his Ph.D. in 2004, he was responsible for four programs of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) as the program leader. Since returning to full-time work in 2012, he has chaired 3 programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) as a program leader, 2 National Natural Science Foundation International (Regional) Cooperation and Exchange (NSFC-JSPS) programs, 1 Department of Education Doctoral Fund (Boarding), 1 Key Research and Development Plan of Shandong Province (public welfare science and technology research) and 1 Shandong Qilu Young Scholars Program Startup Fund. The total program fund amounts to 4.8 million yuan.

Guo Jie, male, born in 1970, doctor of stomatology, professor and doctoral supervisor of Shandong University. He is the vice president of Stomatological Hospital (School of Stomatology) of Shandong University and Shandong Provincial Stomatological Hospital, a member of Orthodontic Committee of Chinese Stomatological Association, a director of Shandong Stomatological Association, a member and secretary of Orthodontic Branch of Shandong Stomatological Association, instructor of Tweed Center of China, editorial board member of "Chinese Oral Orthodontics" magazine, reviewer of "Stomatology", an overseas lecturer of Kyungpook National University, Korea, and an expert reviewer of National Natural Science Foundation of China.

Liu Hongrui, female, born in 1988, doctor of stomatology, periodontist in Shandong Provincial Stomatological Hospital. She is a core member of the research team on the hard tissueogenesis and related disease mechanisms of the Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Oral Tissue Regeneration and young member of the Oral Biomedical Professional Committee of Shandong Provincial Stomatological Association. She has long been engaged in basic research in periodontology and bone immunity, especially in the immunological pathogenesis of periodontal disease and regenerative immunology. She has published 21 SCI papers in internationally renowned journals (9 as first author) with a cumulative impact factor of 62.69. After graduating from 2016, she has been successively in charge of 4 scientific research programs including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Youth Program)，the Natural Resources of Shandong Province (PhD Fund), China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and Shandong Provincial Postdoctoral Innovation Program Special Foundation.
